|
|
- All members of the university community and participants in university programs both on and off campus are bound by the university Code of Conduct.
- Privileges associated with the use of university facilities are subject to the condition that the holder of the privilege does not engage in behaviours destructive to this environment.
- All members of the university community are responsible for promoting a supportive and inclusive learning and working environment and for dealing respectfully and fairly with each other. Members of the university community will not discriminate on any grounds prohibited by recognized standards of human rights or as outlined in the university policies or harass other members of the university community.
- All faculty, staff and students are responsible for maintaining a violence-free environment. This responsibility will be exercised by not engaging in violent or threatening behaviour and by taking safe and effective steps to prevent or stop violence or threatening behaviour when it occurs.
- Academic freedom is a fundamental value; in the exercise of this freedom, members of the university community must also act in a responsible manner and respect the rights of other members of the university and host communities.
- Members of the university community are exhorted to take appropriate and reasonable measures to inform themselves of the nature, norms and values of the host community and to show due respect.
- Relations formed between employees of the university and its students should be of a nature that is acceptable to the values and norms of the host community and free from any conflict of interest, real or apparent.
- The standards of academic honesty and conduct recognized in the academic professions apply fully to this university community and will be enforced strictly so as to maintain the integrity of the learning and scholarly environment.
- Members of the university community found in breach of university policies will be subject to disciplinary measures.
- Any individual found to have submitted a bad faith complaint will be subject to disciplinary measures.
- Those persons appointed by the university to positions of leadership and authority have a particular responsibility for creating and maintaining an inclusive, positive and productive learning and working environment, addressing conflict, concerns and systemic issues in a positive, timely, reasonable and effective manner.
- Members of the university community who believe they have been discriminated against or harassed or who believe they have been victims of threatening behaviour, violence or other injustice, or who believe they have been witness to such offences, should submit a written complaint to the appropriate university authority.
