The Student Union is at the heart of every student’s life at UKH, and it is run by a fulltime president and six
part time officers (head of departments), elected annually by the student body. Each member is
responsible for running his or her duty in accordance with union rules, together they make up the Union Council (UC).
The student union of UKH is an independent self-governing student organization which works in groups to solve students’
problems and to create the best possible environment inside the university.
As a student UKH, you are automatically a member of the student union which means you can use any of the facilities it offers.
The union’s main function is to represent the students, see to their welfare and advocate for their rights.
The union is dedicated to the promotion of academic excellence and success for students’ in their studies at UKH.
The Union Council (UC) exists to support and represent its membership without discrimination; to provide a safe,
supportive and co-operative environment for student activities. It is free of any and all political affiliation
or interference and equally represents the interests of all members of the UKH student community.
The Union Council (UC) is the university’s and students’ initiative to develop links between university
students and the wider community. The Council meets with the representatives of the classes monthly and
gives students at a class level an opportunity to develop their needs and requirements.
The UC is responsible for running all aspects of the student union, from advising and welfare support,
to societies and the various communication tools of
the union, such as the student newspaper, TV programs and the union website.
