The School of Access 2009 Graduation:
After two years of vigorous effort on behalf of students and instructors,
the School of Access
celebrated its first graduation Thursday, 8 October, graduating 61 students
in the “Class of 2009.”
The graduation ceremony was held in the auditorium of the University of
Kurdistan-Hawler with many family and friends present. The ceremony began
with a photo presentation of highlights of student activities and was hosted
by Josh Overcast and Chrissie Ludwig. There was a welcome speech from Dr.
Robert Doebler, Chair of the School of Access, followed by Vice Chancellor
Professor Serwan Baban’s graduation address. The students were inspired by
the speech from valedictorian, Nawar Oghanna. Karie Pieczynski, Head of
English Language Unit gave closing remarks and special recognition to Sauza
Z. Hamadamaeen, the secretary of Access. Each student received a certificate
from the Vice Chancellor in recognition of their diligence and
accomplishments. Special thanks for the ceremony planning and preparation go
to Dirk Embery and the entire Access teachers for their work and making the
event a success for the students.
