Henry Haggard is currently serving as Chief of Staff and Policy Officer in the Public Affairs Section at the U.S. Embassy in Baghdad, and his portfolio includes new media. His accomplishments include the establishment of the Iraq Technology Task Force, helping Google engineers image the Iraq National Museum and facilitating the visit of Google CEO Eric Schmidt to Baghdad. He joined the State Department in 1999 and served in the Operations Center and the Executive Secretariat in the Office of the Secretary of State from 2002-2005. From 2006-2009, while serving as a political officer in Seoul, observed presidential and parliamentary elections and also accompanied officials to North Korea several times. He received a BA in International Relations from Brown University and speaks fluent Korean and French.
Caryn Anderson is the Director of the new Information Resource Center at the U.S. Embassy in Baghdad. She has most recently been the Integration Research Manager for the Australian Research Council Centre of Excellence in Policing and Security (CEPS), based at The Australian National University (ANU) in Canberra, Australia. Prior to her work with CEPS & ANU, Caryn was Doctoral Studies Program Manager at the Simmons College Graduation School of Library and Information Science (GSLIS) in Boston, USA, where she was also a lecturer specializing in technology, digital libraries and government information. She additionally has experience in public policy analysis, nonprofit management and media production (radio, television & documentary film). Caryn holds a master’s degree in library and information science from Simmons GSLIS and a bachelor’s degree from the College of Communication at Boston University. She is active in the American Society for Information Science & Technology (ASIS&T) where she is known for contributions to information technology, international information issues and knowledge management.
